The Department of Posts, under the Ministry of Communications, Government of India, has released the official notification for India Post GDS (Gramin Dak Sevak) Recruitment 2025. India Post GDS Salary Structure

India Post GDS employees receive Time-Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA) along with Dearness Allowance (DA). The initial salary slabs are:

In addition to the salary, GDS employees are entitled to GDS Gratuity, Service Discharge Benefits (similar to NPS), and Dearness Allowance.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed Class 10 (Matriculation) with Mathematics and English as subjects from a recognized board.
  • Must have studied the local language of the state up to Class 10.

Age Limit (as of the last application date)

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 40 years

Selection Process

1. Merit-Based Selection

  • The selection is purely based on marks obtained in the 10th standard.
  • No written exam or interview.
  • Marks will be calculated up to 4 decimal places to determine merit.

2. Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates must present original documents, including:

  • Class 10 Marksheet
  • Caste/EWS Certificate (if applicable)
  • PwD Certificate (if applicable)
  • Medical Certificate
  • Identity Proof (Aadhaar/PAN/Passport)
  • Proof of Local Language Proficiency

3. Final Selection & Training

  • After verification, provisional engagement letters will be issued.
  • Selected candidates will undergo 3 days of mandatory training.

Post-Wise Job Responsibilities

1. Branch Postmaster (BPM)

  • Managing day-to-day postal operations of the Branch Post Office (B.O).
  • Handling India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) transactions.
  • Marketing and promoting postal products and services.
  • Ensuring smooth operation of mail delivery and dispatch.
  • BPMs must arrange accommodation for the Branch Post Office.

2. Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)

  • Assisting BPM in daily operations.
  • Sale of stamps and stationery.
  • Doorstep mail delivery and handling of deposits/payments.
  • Marketing and customer support.
  • ABPMs must reside within the jurisdiction of the Post Office.

3. Dak Sevak

  • Handling mail dispatch, sorting, and delivery.
  • Selling postal products such as stamps and stationery.
  • Assisting in the smooth functioning of Post Offices and Railway Mail Services (RMS).
  • Dak Sevaks must reside within their designated delivery area.
